Florida A&M University (FAMU) Rattlers are preparing for another great season of football.

"It's a critical time for us to build our respective programs and get ready for this 2022-23 SWAC season," Simmons said. "We'll continue to build our respective programs and get ready for this 2022-23 SWAC season. We want to be that program that stands in Atlanta hoisting the trophy as the undisputed No. 1 team in black college football."

Simmons also pushed for the utilization of summer courses to allow student-athletes to graduate on or ahead of schedule, along with staying in an environment that would shelter and educate them.

"There's no way our athletic program will sustain itself if we don't have them here for the summer," Simmons said.

"My plea for summer school isn't just so we can go out there and do workouts, meeting and do things to prepare us to be ready to go beat North Carolina and Jackson State. It's also so they can get ahead and graduate on time. If we want to be a top-notch athletics program, that's what it takes because the people that we're recruiting against are doing that very thing."
